1
Love, Death, And Robots (March 15, 2019) – Netflix

Coming to Netflix mid-March, the series Love, Death, and Robots is a sci-fi thriller that stars Topher Grace (That 70’s Show) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Die Hard, Scott Pilgrim vs The World). The series seems to be a bit insane, but it comes from the brilliant minds of David Fincher and Tim Miller.

The series follows a collection of 18 short films, put into this series. Basically, it’s an anthology series that is absolutely addictive by the way it appears. David said about the series:

“[Its] Sentient Dairy Products, Rogue Werewolf Soldiers, Robots Gone Wild, Sexy Cyborgs, Alien Spiders And Blood-thirsty Demons From Hell Converge In An 185-minute Genre Orgy Of Stories Not Suitable For The Mainstream.”

Fincher has worked with Netflix before, helping to create House of Cards. He’s also well-known for his work in Fight Club, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network, and more. Meanwhile, Tim Miller helped direct the first Deadpool film as well as Thor: The Dark World. The two happened to work together on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

We’re not sure what the hell this show is going to be based on that. However, the trailer dropped recently and made the show seem so compelling. However, being on Netflix, they have the freedom to go wild. The material you will see here is NSFW. This only makes us want to check it out more.

What We Do In The Shadows (March 27, 2019) – FX

What We Do In The Shadows is based on the film of the same name. It’ll be premiering on FX near the end of March, and it seems to be highly anticipated based on material we’ve seen thus far.

The show follows three vampires that happen to be roommates. They’ve been around each other for hundreds of years – which can likely do a number on one’s patience.

As you can likely guess, the show is sort of a comedy horror based series. The original movie was written by Jemaine Clement & Taika Waititi. The two have gone on to have a lot of success on the Marvel side of things, with Clement working on Legion and Waititi working on Thor: Ragnorak.

However, both have a very comedic side of them and it showed in the film. This series will not feature a ton of major stars in the starring roles. That said, it could be a way to see newer actors have a shot at success. Some of the actors are veterans in the industry but are not big stars in America.

Regardless of the situation, this could be a huge opportunity. The world of Vampires is still hot, and acting a comedic side to this normally serious or dramatic subject matter could be smart. We’ll have to wait and see if critics and viewers feel the same.

Hanna (March 29, 2019) – Amazon Video

It appears Amazon Video thought a Hanna TV show was a great idea. The cast from the 2011 film won’t reprise their roles, especially that of Hanna herself. A young actress by the name of Esme Creed-Miles will play the title role.

She’ll be joined by veteran actors Joel Kinnamon (Robocop, The Killing, Suicide Squad) and Mireille Enos (World War Z, Big Love, The Killing).

Hanna will follow the title character, an extraordinary girl with extraordinary gifts. She has to find a way to escape a CIA agent, who is after her due to what she can do. The agent is obsessed with finding out the truth behind who Hanna is and how she came to be.

Can he do it? Time will tell.

Ultraman (April 1, 2019) – Netflix

Depending on how you enjoyed the previous series or if you know it at all, this could be one of the better new TV shows out there. Since this is going to involve A LOT of CGI, Netflix will likely promote the heck out of it. So expect to see this appear on your feed a great deal.

Since it is loosely based on the previous Manga and will be in Japanese, a huge audience will flock to it. However, if you’re not an anime or manga person, it may not be for you. Despite this, many people feel that this show can make it over to the mainstream in Netflix’s hands, just as Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon has done before it.

That remains to be seen. However,  with a massive audience into this field, and the fact it’s happening in 2019 and not the 1960s, it could do just that.

The Twilight Zone (April 1, 2019) – CBS All Access

From one reboot to another, the original The Twilight Zone was one of the most popular TV shows of its time. It had a number of incarnations, but it was sad when the last series ended. Now, we’re treated to a major Twilight Zone comeback, thanks to CBS, this April.

Academy Award Winner Jordan Peele (Keanu, Key & Peele, Get Out) will host the anthology series. Reboots can be an annoyance at times, however, no one ever wanted to see The Twilight Zone go off the air. This is why the show is highly anticipated. People loved the original and the last number of incarnations.

This is part of those several incarnations. Plus, when you want to see the best stories of the weird and odd, it’s not exactly hard to find online.

However, the internet may “tell” us, but Twilight Zone SHOWS us all of this stuff. That is what makes them so much fun. It’ll truly be great seeing the show come back to TV, where it belongs.

Our Planet (April 5, 2019) – Netflix

The show even has the amazing British narrator David Attenborough.

The show is similar to that of Blue Planet, Frozen Planet, and the original Our Planet. However, all of these shows have been different in what they follow. Blue Planet being more about the sea and Frozen Planet being more about the arctic side of things.

Meanwhile, the technology of today far outweighs that of the 2009 Our Planet show.

For this version, we’re going to see a focus on the diversity of habitats all around the world. We’ll see the arctic wilderness and the mysterious deep oceans. However, we’re also going to be seeing major and massive landscapes of Africa as well as the amazing jungles of South America.

A lot of the shows in this series ended up on either Discovery or the BBC. However, this show will be premiering on Netflix. With all the technology of today, this show is going to be amazing. It’ll give us an entirely new perspective on planet Earth and the animals on it.

King Kong: Skull Island (April 18, 2019) – Network TBD

Despite the premiere of this new TV show being right around the corner, we don’t know much about the series. It’ll be a female-led show that will not connect to the movie of the same name, at least not be connected to the people of the film.

The producers seemed to also want people to know that they will have a very diverse cast for the show. Yet they have not given us much information on who they are yet.

We also know we’re going to be getting a lot of interesting monsters. That said, the CGI budget might be insane.

I’ll note that the King Kong: Skull Island TV premiere date hasn’t been set, nor do we know a network. And being that we’re in the middle of March already, it’s likely that this show will be delayed until summer.

Catch-22 (May 17, 2019) – Hulu

Hulu will be giving us an interesting new TV show called Catch-22 that will be based on the book of the same name. The story follows John Yossarian, a U.S. Army & Air Forces bombardier in World War II.

Apparently, thousands of people are trying to kill him (there’s a war), but he’s also having to deal with the United States forcing more flying missions to complete their service. Therefore making the true enemy his own government.

He cannot avoid his military assignments, because that would put him in violation of Catch-22. This is a somewhat funny bureaucratic rule that specifies a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers that are both real and immediate. They claim that this is somewhat taking a rational mind.

Interestingly, a man is considered insane if he’ll willingly fly into dangerous combat missions. However, if one requests to be removed from duty, they did this out of clear sanity. Therefore, he’s unable to be removed from duty. Hence, Catch-22.

The show stars Christopher Abbott (Girls, The Sinner, Whisky Tango Foxtrot), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Zero Dark Thirty, The Wolf of Wall Street), and Hugh Laurie (House, The Night Manager, Chance, Stuart Little).

George Clooney (Oceans, Money Monster, Gravity, The Perfect Storm) will star in the series as well on top of joining the producers of the show.

Good Omens (May 31, 2019) – Amazon Video

Good Omens is yet another exciting fantasy series that looks to be highly anticipated. For all the new TV shows coming out this year, it appears that Good Omens is getting some of the biggest promotion. This gives us a good bit about the show, helping us know how good it could be.

The show will premiere on the BBC & Amazon Prime at the end of May. It is based on the novel from 1990 called Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. It’s kind of a long title, so we’re not shocked it was shortened. Heck, we still shorten Dr. Strangelove.

The show looks to be pretty insane, yet absolutely amazing. The series follows the demon known as Crowley and the angel known as Aziraphale. They are now accustomed to life on Earth, so they actively seek to prevent any possible coming of the Anti-Christ. Without an Anti-Christ, there cannot be a final battle between Heaven and Hell, of course.

The cast is filled with all-star talent like David Tennant (Dr. Who, Ducktales) and Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, Alice in Wonderland franchise, Twilight franchise, Masters of Sex) who serve as the leads of the series. They are joined by the likes of Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Nick Offerman, as well as big hitters like Jon Hamm and Benedict Cumberbatch.

We can see why the show has become so anticipated, can you?

Pennyworth (June 2019) – EPIX

A TV show revolving around Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, will be coming this June. The show follows Alfred in his early life.

For those unaware, Alfred was quite a guy before taking the small job of a butler in his older years. When he took the role as the butler for the Wayne Family, he was hired primarily for his experience. Not his experience as a butler, oh no. Rather, he was hired for his experience as a fighter and military member.

Pennyworth in this series is a former British SAS Solider who just left the world and has opened up a security company in 1960s London, England. In this time, he comes across Thomas Wayne and Alfred begins to work for him in the security field.

A lot of experienced actors will take part in the show. However, many of the actors and actresses are not very well known. Likely the most known is Polly Walker (John Carter, Clash of the Titans, Rome) and Ben Aldrige (Reign, The Bible, Our Girl). Thankfully the star of the show is relatively well known too.

The star of the show, Alfred Pennyworth himself, is played by Jack Bannon (Fury, The Imitation Game, Kids in Love, Endeavor). Bannon’s terrific acting ability makes him someone we expect to deliver well as a young Alfred Pennyworth.

Swamp Thing (June 2019) – DC Universe

It will not take place in the same universe as Titans or Doom Patrol, however, it likely will be a pretty big hit on the DC streaming service like the shows mentioned.

The show is expected to have a MASSIVE CGI budget and for good reason. They’re going to truly need it to deliver a show that can be as good as everyone wants it to be. The plan is to begin the show with the origin of the character, and follow his rise to becoming the “protector of the green.”

The show will involve Andy Bean (Power, Allegiant, Transformers: The Last Knight) and Derek Mears (Twin Peaks, Friday the 13th, Atila: Battle Angel) who will star as the infamous Swamp Thing. Andy will play the more human side of the character, as well as the major portion of the acting. Meanwhile, Derek will handle most of the physical action and stunts.

The show will premiere on the DC Universe App June of 2019.

12
Harley Quinn (October 2019) – DC Universe

Yet another addition to the DC Streaming Application will be an animated series following the absolutely insane yet extremely beautiful Harley Quinn. She has been a villain for a long time and her relationship with The Joker has not exactly gone to perfect plan.

However, she could make a mark for herself in the world of villains. At the same time, she could branch out on her own as a hero. This animated TV show by DC follows Harley as she decides what to do with her life while she’s solo.

Though she will still have friends around like Poison Ivy, which eventually leads her on a personal adventure to join the Legion of Doom. Can she do it? Will it all be what it has been cracked up to be? Harley will certainly find out.

Harley will be voiced by the beautiful Kaley Cuoco of Big Bang Theory fame. Meanwhile, Lake Bell (Boston Legal, Children’s Hospital, Surface, Bojack Horseman) will play the great Poison Ivy.

The show will obviously be very comedic and take shots at various DC and Marvel shows. It won’t quite be as 4th wall breaking as Deadpool, but it could get relatively close.

The show is currently expected for an October 2019 release date on the DC Universe Application.

The Witcher (Fall 2019) – Netflix

The Witcher is a series that will premiere on Netflix later this year starring Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Man from U.N.C.L.E., Justice League, Mission Impossible-Fallout) as the lead of the series, Geralt of Rivia. The series is supposedly based on the video game of the same name.

However, since the game was based on a series of books, it will likely borrow from that world too. That means we very well could get a different version of The Witcher than what people are used to in the video games. We do know Henry really wants this series to turn out well, as they only have around 8 shows to show off this series.

Of course, those shows are all relatively long due to this being a mini-series. Cavill is a huge video game nerd who once said that he missed the original call about becoming Superman because he was in the middle of a World of Warcraft game. Seriously.

He’s clearly loving playing this part, so it is likely he’d return to play the role again if the show gets renewed by Netflix. Due to the money the company can offer, it is unlikely they’ll struggle to pay him for a comeback. However, Warner Bros. may have an issue with too much use of the actor for obvious reasons.

The Witcher is expected to drop in the Fall of 2019. An exact date has not been announced, but Netflix has assured us and the rest of the world a Fall timeframe.

14
Slayer (Fall 2019) – The CW

It seems the creators felt similar, and they decided to follow a new character set in the same universe as Buffy’s. The character will be a black female, who will hunt vampires similar to Buffy. However, she won’t be the exact same character.

The two will differ, which could be compelling to see. Buffy very well could guest star, as well as Angel. Since you’re not recasting either one, it could be a cool way to handle things.

The CW handled this well with The Flash show by having John Wesley Shipp take part in the show as Barry’s father and eventually Jay Garrick. Shipp was The Flash on the 80’s TV show. They even had him remain as the elder Flash later on.

Interestingly, the show is set to be part of The CW line-up of shows. That pretty much indicates they’ll run this as they have the DC Entertainment shows.

Since we’re not recasting either Buffy or Angel, the possibilities are endless. However, the series will not be about them. They seem to also be taking Buffy from the title just to make sure they don’t confuse any new fans of the show. For now, we’ve been given an ominous “Slayer” title. This will likely be changed the closer we get to the show launching.

It looks like they will try to dive into stories used in the comics, which could make for some great television.

It is expected to air this Fall. We could likely see it launch by November, considering it is an obvious sweeps month for TV Networks.

15
Watchmen (Fall 2019) – HBO

Likely one of the most highly anticipated new TV shows in years, we’ll finally see The Watchmen on television. The show is set to air on HBO, which means they’ll have full permission to go as crazy as they want with the characters. They can curse, show nudity, and absolutely make it as gory as they feel.

With HBO, the rules are limited and they’re more than willing to throw money at something if they feel it could be a big thing for them. They’re still getting that Dragon money from the successful Game of Thrones show, so they’re not hurting for moolah right now.

The show will follow the members of the Watchmen team and have no connection to the film by Zack Snyder. Although they are part of the DC Universe and have now been included in the DC: Rebirth side of things, they won’t have any connection to the shows on the DC Universe App or The CW’s shows.

We don’t exactly know everything planned for the series, but we do know they have spared no expense on the cast. The show will involve recent Emmy Winner Regina King(The Leftovers, American Crime) as Angela Abraham. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Baywatch) will be in an undisclosed role along with Don Johnson and Tim Blake.

Jean Smart will also join the series, and she has A TON of experience in superhero-related shows. Having worked on Kim Possible, Static Shock, 24, and now Legion. When you want a veteran actress who loves this line of work, Smart is your pick.

Finally, the brilliant Jeremy Irons will star as Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias for the show. Irons is also not a stranger to this world, having played Alfred Pennyworth in Justice League and Dawn of Justice: Batman vs Superman. He’s also been part of movies in the same type of Nerd-Culture worlds like Red Sparrow, Dungeons & Dragons, and Assassins Creed.

Obviously, all the main stars of the series will take part. However, without much news about the story, this is all we have knowledge on thus far. You can expect Nerd Much to cover anything new, however.

16
The Mandalorian (Fall 2019) – Disney+

The difference is that he may seemingly do things for the good guys eventually. The timeframe of the show is quite compelling as well, as it takes place only a few years after The Return of the Jedi but before The Force Awakens. This is about a 30-year gap, so it’s a lot of time to blow through.

Due to the introduction in Star Wars: Rebels of a “world between worlds” that connects every movie & TV show, across every timeline, in every universe…we could see some characters show up in the series that we are not expecting. Ezra from that very show as well as Ahsoka Tano are both heavily rumored for it.

So far, the cast has been pretty well-known but only a few roles are set in stone. Pedro Pascal (The Equalizer 2, Game of Thrones, The Great Wall, Narcos) will play our title character. He will be joined by an all-star cast including Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Giancarlo Esposito, and big guns like Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, and Gina Carano.

On top of this will be a rare performance by Werner Herzog. The German actor, director, producer, and screenwriter rarely appears on camera these days. Most of his roles as an actor has been in voice role only, with an occasional cameo. It is unknown what role he will play, but Werner never does less than a 100 level performance.

This show could be absolutely epic.

17
Batwoman (Fall 2019) – The CW

Filming for the show is expected to begin within a few months on the first half of the show, with the second half being filmed later this year.

Ruby Rose will play the title character of Batwoman as well as the woman under the mask, Kate Kane. Rose has been a huge asset to television and film the last few years due to her interesting look and acting ability. You’ve likely seen her in TV Shows & Films like Orange is the New Black, John Wick: Chapter 2, XXX: Return of Zander Cage, Pitch Perfect 3, and The Meg.

The Show Itself

The show follows Kate Kane as she adjusts to a Gotham City without a Batman. Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight have been missing for about 3 years, but it’s uncertain as to why. Kane happens to be the cousin of Bruce Wayne and the closest living blood-related family member. Thus, she has inherited a lot it seems.

Kane was already from a well-off family, as her father was a military general. She entered the Armed Forces, but her homosexual lifestyle seemed to cost her as she ended up out of the military. However, a chance encounter with Batman changed her life, as she was saved from being robbed & a possible rape by the caped crusader.

She eventually goes on to use her military skill and the various weapons she manages to steal from her father’s collection and army. Kate, unlike Batman, has no problem using guns, bombs, or whatever she has to in order to take a perp down.

So far, we know Alfred Pennyworth exists in this universe as well as Wayne and Batman. It is expected that The Question will exist here, as well as Renee Montoya. She happens to be a detective that eventually becomes The Question when Vic Sage moves on. Montoya is also the primary love interest for Kate Kane in the comics.

Other Bat-Family members are possible. Dick Grayson or Nightwing makes sense due to the several references to Bludhaven over the years. Grayson has a big attraction to Kane originally and attempts to get with her a few times before finding out she doesn’t swing that way.

Tim Drake and Barbara Gordon are also possible, mostly because of their heavy connections to Batwoman in the comics. Drake most of all because of his numerous missions with her.

The Batwoman TV Show is expected to drop this Fall, likely during October with the rest of the Arrowverse. However, there is some speculation that they’ll hold off until February 2020 to debut the show. We’ll likely know more during Comic-Con this summer.

Stargirl (Late 2019) – DC Universe

Brec Bassinger will be playing the title character. You know her from roles in TV shows like The Haunted Hathaways, Bella and the Bulldogs, and School of Rock. The 19-year-old will be joined by one heck of a cast.

It looks like the main villain for her will be Cindy Burman, the daughter of the Dragon King.

Meg Delacy (The Fosters) will play Cindy while Amy Smart (Varsity Blues, Rat Race, The Butterfly Effect, Just Friends) will play Courtney’s mother Barbara Whitmore. Joel McHale will play Starman, and it appears like it’ll be a minor role for now. You know Joel from the show Community.

Lou Ferrigno’s son, Lou Ferrigno, Jr. will star in the series as well. He will play a tremendous character known as Hourman. Lou, Jr. has been in TV shows like 9-1-1 and S.W.A.T in recent years and has proven to be a tremendous action actor.

Niel Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Hunter Sansone, and Trae Ramono will be in unspecified roles.

Due to the show coming out much later this year, this is really all we know about the Stargirl series. It is expected that we’ll know more this summer when the cast heads to Comic-Con.

Untitled Captain Picard Project (Late 2019) – CBS

However, the role that made him famous was obviously his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. He’s clearly the most English Frenchmen of all-time. However, we’re not going to care about that if you aren’t.

Stewart played the Picard role in several movies as well.

It should come as a shock that CBS wants to do another series surrounding the character, right? To some, it makes sense if they want to do a reboot. However, they aren’t bothering with a reboot. Oh no, they’re using Patrick Stewart in the role.

The question is, what has the Captain been up to? It seemed like he walked away before, so what more is there for the Captain to do?

Apparently, the destruction of the Romulan Empire seemed to drastically affect Picard. He wanted to seek peace with the group, but after Spock failed to end the conflict, things escalated. Picard seems to be coming back to right the wrongs of what occurred.

This isn’t a one-off movie, but an entire series surrounding the man. Stewart is 78 years old, so naturally Picard will be the same age. Can Stewart even do the things he needs to do in this role?

It looks like he’ll be attempting to do so, but stunt doubles will likely have a major role in the show.

It has been confirmed that the show WILL air this year on the CBS All-Access streaming service. The problem is that we don’t know what date it will premiere. New TV Shows like this obviously make us curious.

However, we’ll likely know more by the summer. We can expect it to debut by November or December. All we have to say to CBS is, simply “Make it so!”
