With Hotel Translyvania 4 announced, I think we can all officially agree that, somehow, we love the Hotel Transylvania franchise. When it first launched, I think we were all a bit skeptical; this was the time when Adam Sandler was coming off a string of some real box office bombs, including Grown Ups, Zookeeper, That’s My Boy, and, the worst offender of all, Jack and Jill.
But then we saw Hotel Transylvania and fell in love, and now it’s an October essential.

3What is Hotel Transylvania About, Anyway?
Hotel Transylvania begins in the year 1895, where Dracula builds a resort in Transylvania that is hidden away from the humans to raise his family after his wife was killed during a mob of angry humans.
Present-day, his daughter, Mavis, is all grown up and the resort has become Hotel Transylvania, a place where frightful monsters stay to vacation away from the humans. Mavis is turning 118 this year, and her dad is throwing her a grand party to celebrate at the hotel.
Just as the festivities are about to begin, a human stumbles across the hidden hotel. Jonathon is a 21-year-old boy whom Dracula decides to disguise as a monster to hide him from his daughter as well as all the monsters staying at the hotel. Mavis discovers Jonathon the ‘monster’ and falls in love with him.
She is convinced he is her soulmate, disregarding her father’s disapproval. Mavis soon starts to realize that maybe humans aren’t as bad as her father sets them out to be. This romantic comedy with a frightful twist is a wonderful animated adventure about the other side of the life monsters live—hiding away from the humans and in some cases, falling in love with them.
