All Zombie Movies of 2018: The Complete List

Looking for all of the zombie movies that released in 2018? We’ve got you covered with our complete list of major zombie movie releases:

1. Day of the Dead: Bloodline

upcoming zombie movies

Release Date: January 5, 2018
Starring: Sophie Skelton, Johnathon Schaech, Jeff Gum
Director: Hector Hernandez Vicens

Day of the Dead: Bloodline is based on the characters created by zombie king George A. Romero, and it was announced way back in 2013. We’re not talking about World War Z zombies climbing walls and “doing backflips”, according to producers Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman. The zombie film will hit theaters in early January, giving us some zombie goodness to look forward to at the start of the year.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out well for Day of the Dead: Bloodline, and it’s just another new zombie movie that couldn’t quite get away from being generic (which is the last thing the genre needs right now).

2. The Cured

the cured movie

Release Date: February 23, 2018
Starring: Ellen Page, Peter Campion, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor
Director: David Freyne

We’ve seen so many zombie tales based on getting the disease cured that it’s hard to even be interested in The Cured at first, but then, we see that it’s Ellen Page, and she’s incredible on all fronts.

The Cured feels more like In the Flesh the movie, where the disease that turned people into zombies has been cured. Now that the once-zombified are back in society, they’re discriminated against, causing social issues to arise, leading to a militant government interference.

The trailer (above) looks a bit more exciting than anything we saw in In the Flesh, so there’s that.

3. Cargo

(2018)” description=”Cargo, the zombie movie starring Martin Freeman, is now available on Netflix.”]

Release Date: May 18, 2018
Starring: Martin Freeman, Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter
Director: Ben Howling, Yolanda Ramke

Martin Freeman in a post-apocalyptic world? Yes, please! But, don’t expect this to be overloaded with any cool action sequences or anything of the like. What we do know about Cargo is that it will be released to Netflix at some point in 2018, and Screen Daily reports that it’s June 8th.

The story will revolve around an emotional father who is stranded in rural Australia with only 48 hours to find a new home for his baby girl after he has become infected by a violent plague that has overtaken the world. It’s based on the short film from 2013.

Apparently, Cargo is going to be a whole lot scarier than we were initially led to believe. Hopefully, that means we’re in for an actual good zombie movie in 2018. Stay tuned to Nerd Much? for our review as we get closer to the film’s release.

4. The Night Eats the World (La Nuit a DeVore le monde)

Release Date: July 13, 2018
Starring: Anders Danielsen Lie, Golshifteh Farahani, Denis Lavant
Director: Dominique Rocher

The Night Eats the World is a French zombie film set in Paris. Following a party, a young man wakes up to find Paris has been invaded by zombies. According to THR, it’s a ‘minimalist art house zombie movie set almost entirely inside a Paris apartment building.’ It has a 28 Days Later vibe, with the same sort of visceral, down-to-earth directorial style. Also, it has a brilliant name.

5. An Accidental Zombie (Named Ted)

an accidental zombie named ted

Release Date: TBA 2018
Starring: Naomi Grossman, Yoshua Sudarso, Hemky Madera

An Accidental Zombie (Named Ted), formerly titled simply A Zombie Named Ted, will follow the tale of Ted, a newly minted zombie struggling with his newly found condition. He’s got the “skin thing” while on vacation in the Caribbean, and a never-ending hunger for brains. Zombie Ted inherits his grandfather’s fortune, but he has to wait for him to die before collecting. Meanwhile, he joins group therapy designed to help patients who suffer from paranormal disorders. It sounds incredibly strange.

An Accidental Zombie (Named Ted) had been our list of upcoming zombie movies for a couple years now, but it finally received a straight to DVD/streaming release late in 2018. You can actually watch it right on Amazon Prime video right now.

6. Anna and the Apocalypse

Director: John McPhail
Starring: Ella Hunt, Malcolm Cumming, Sarah Swire
Release Date: November 30, 2018

Anna and the Apocalypse is a ridiculous zombie musical set during an apocalypse around Christmastime, complete with ugly Christmas sweaters and all the bloody zombies you could ever want under your tree.
