Scott Snyder Confirms His End With Batman

Scott Snyder Confirms His End With Batman DC Comics WriterAs comic book fans are all too familiar with, no creative team gets to continue on forever. However, with Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, we had hoped that they could.

For nearly five years, the pair had been in charge of DC’s mainline Batman series. After April’s Batman #51, the Snyder and Capullo will be wrapping up their run with the character.

While rumors have been circling for a few weeks, it was in an interview with Comic Vine that Scott Snyder finally gave a confirmation.

“Greg and I have had a blast together on this run,” he said. “It’s our second to last issue together. 51 is my last issue as well on Batman. For me, 50 is the quiet issue and 51 is really just a letter to the fans from us and a letter to Batman. It’s the lightest I’ve ever written. Not lightest as in happy but light as in not as many panels per page. It’s really really open. It’s a chance for Greg to draw the close before we take our break. 50 we wanted to be the opposite. We wanted it to be the most explosive, jam-packed sort of blockbuster crazed issue we’ve ever done. I hope it delivers in that regard.”

This is crushing news for Batman fans everywhere. Snyder and Capullo has brought one of the most interesting runs of the character in a long time. Thankfully, the duo plan to work together for another major new DC story after Capullo finishes with his collaboration with Mark Millar.

Even more interesting is that Snyder recently tweeted that he has stories in mind for many iconic Batman villains. He even names Ivy, Catwoman, Scarecrow, Penguin, and Mad Hatter.

Our hope is that they rescue another DC franchise and make them just as important as he made Batman. We’re just going to have to find out. In the meantime, how about you go ahead and give his run a read if you haven’t already. You can find the first volume here.
