Frostbeard Studio has been around for a couple of years, so admittedly we’re a little late to the bandwagon, but we have become completely obsessed with their Book Lovers’ Soy Candles. Frostbeard is a married couple that enjoys creating nerdy things; they began with pottery and drawing, and apparently stumbled onto candle making quite by accident when Roxie was unable to find a library-scented candle. Since then, their business has exploded.
If you’re looking for the perfect gift for the bibliophile in your life, these candles are absolutely perfect. They come in a variety of scents; some evoke general book-related nostalgia, such as Reading at the Cafe and Old Books, while some transport you directly into your favorite books, such as The Shire and Headmaster’s Office.
These 15-ounce candles (which measure about 4″ high and 3″ wide) cost $18 each (plus S&H). They are made from soy wax, which is non-toxic and burns much cleaner than other waxes, in addition to being renewable, biodegradable, and vegan. The cotton wicks are lead-free, and the glass jars are reusable and recyclable. Each candle is hand-poured at their studio in Minneapolis, MN, and come in attractive colors on top of the amazing scents.
If you’re unsure which scent to buy and want to try a few first, they have this sample pack of tealights available on Etsy, and several more on their website; each comes with four different scents. They have soy wax tarts for wax warmers as well. Their reviews (for all their products) are overwhelmingly positive, so we’re certain you won’t be disappointed (we also included these candles in our list of nerdy valentine’s day gifts).
