BioShock Developer Irrational Games Rebranded As Ghost Story

Irrational Games formally shut down in 2014, but Ken Levine ferried the remaining 15 employees into a brand new studio, now called Ghost Story Games.

They were quietly working on a project for a few years now, with Levine saying nothing about it other than “new immersive sci-fi game with RPG elements” on the studios FAQs page.

There have been other hints over the years, but Levine hadn’t announced anything so official as a new studio until now.Bioshock Developer Irrational Games Rebranded As Ghost Story

It is important to keep in mind that Ghost Story is “not working on a BioShock game.” There will be no sequel or prequel to any of the games and it’s time to to leave the classic trio well enough alone.

Besides, 2K has the rights to the series, not Levine. In their own words, the studio is “excited to be working on our maiden game! However, individually our team members have been involved in the development and release of many games, including but not limited to System Shock 2, BioShock and BioShock Infinite, which were directed by Ken Levine under our former moniker Irrational Games.

While we believe our new games will have strong appeal to fans of BioShock, our new focus allows us to craft experiences where the gameplay is as challenging as the stories. We are not yet ready to share any more on our new game.”

Will you be keeping track of this new studio? What would you like to see in a game from them? Let us know in the comments below!
