According to Emily Rogers, renowned journalist and leaker of leaks, there will be a Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle game to release on the Switch and it will be announced at E3 this year. Rogers had quite a few leaks about the Switch, for example, that turned out to be accurate, so it’s likely she’s right this time too.
Rogers gives a few more details in her blog post, in which she states that this new Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle will have 8 playable characters. These characters will include Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi. They will have a range of laser guns and arm cannons to battle with.
But then Rogers seems to contradict herself, by saying that the other characters are not playable at all, but controlled through another character, Tuttorio. She describes Tuttorio as a “floating dish which guides the characters through the world.” Which makes me think she’s trying to imply some kind of central board where the mini-games are chosen, or perhaps the conditions of the battle.
As an aside, she also mentions that there will be co-op multiplayer. As this is on the Switch and sounds like a party game, I would say that’s a given. But she doesn’t mention exactly how it will be multiplayer, if none of these 8 characters are fully playable.
E3 is only a month and a bit away in middle of June, so we’ll know whether or not this is true somewhat soon. The Rabbids games have had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but fans have enjoyed the raunchy humor of the games regardless. I’m not sure it fits well with the innocence of the Mario franchise, but I’m sure Nintendo will handle it well.
How do you think the two will fit together? Would you like such a game? Let us know in the comments below, and check out some of the confirmed upcoming games on the way later this year.
