Dontnod studios has announced a release date via a new trailer for their game Vampyr, November 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders are available now and feature two bonus weapons and one outfit. The trailer features a few environments within the game, the various levels of society and of the city itself.
From upper class to the infested sewers, there is a distinct Dunwall (the city from Dishonored) vibe here. The city is clearly in the midst of a plague with vampires thrown into the mix, instead of rats. There are different factions of society trying to figure out how to handle it, one being the red-banded folk, and the other the middle class police.
One might compare these to the Outsider followers and the guardsman in Dishonored. And of course, the upper class that simply doesn’t care because, well… The Ascalon Club form the cream of London society, and they’re all vampires. This club is shown at the very end of the trailer, indulging in their privileges.
Despite the lack of gameplay, the various environments shown certainly give the game a different feel from what we’ve seen before. Instead of the usual anguish that plagues the vampires of our fiction, Vampyr shows us that a great deal of power lies in choosing the right citizen to draw blood from. As the character Dr. Jonathan Reid, it is up to the player to decide to the fate of London itself through their actions in the game.
Once again, Vampyr will release November 2017 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
