Conan Exiles is still in Early Access but Funcom is keen to add even more content. The expansion is called The Frozen North, taking players to the literal polar opposite of the deserts. The Frozen North will be coming to the Xbox One and PC on August 16, 2017. It will be completely free for all players on both systems.
Funcom states that this expansion will make “the world of Conan Exiles 70% bigger.” Well, it certainly sounds like there will be a lot to see. The Frozen North will be a completely different climate and weather system from the desert – and you’d better be dressed for the occasion. A frozen death is certainly a possibility, so be warned.
With the Frozen North also comes new mechanics, like fish traps, beekeeping (save the bees!), and cooking. Along with the latter, you’ll be able to ferment your own alcohol too, which will apparently help keep you warm out there in the frozen wilds. I’m not sure Funcom knows how extreme cold works, but alright. Even if this is just a joke, please keep in mind that alcohol only makes you think you’re warm. It’s very dangerous to be drinking and out in the cold at the same time.
Warnings of hypothermia aside (can you tell I live in Canada?) players will be able to join a whole new religion. This one allows you to summon Ymir, the Lord of Storm and War. Ymir will help crush your enemies and demolish their cities with one decent stomping session. More features in this update include siege weapons, a new dungeon, a dye system, new armor and weapons, new decorations, avatar defenses, and new building pieces. So go forth and build an all new empire in The Frozen North!
Conan Exiles will leave Early Access sometime in early 2018 on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
