If you haven’t already obtained your copy of Fallout 4, or you’re a collector, Bethesda has released all new special editions, including Game of the Year and the Pip Boy edition. The Game of the Year edition includes all of the latest updates to the game, like Survival mode, updated graphics, and mod support. The DLC packs will be included as well, all six: Nuka-World, Vault-Tec Workshop, Contraptions Workshop, Far Harbor, Wasteland Workshop, and Automatron. This one goes for $59.99.
The Pip Boy collector edition is sold only in North America and are in limited quantity. This edition will include everything the Game of the Year features, all updates and DLC add-ons. However it does include a very fancy accessory, a replica of a pip boy, a pocket guide, and a Vault-Tec Perks poster. All of which is priced at $99.99.
So if you’re a big fan of Bethesda’s post apocalyptic open world first person shooter, game of the year editions are always the best deal. My personal favorite of the series is Fallout: Las Vegas, as I have major soft spot for all the juxtaposition between the cheerful optimism of the 40s and 50s, and the actual ruin and disaster that resulted from extremist ideas taking hold of a population.
I’ll never tire of those record players in the rundown casinos, or climb around on this wacky roller coasters for the heck of it. Such ruins and juxtapositions are a big part of what makes Fallout such a landmark series, even if not all part of it are good. Fallout takes a lot of cues from the BioShock series, or the other way around, but unfortunately Fallout is very focused on the open world feature. There are not any twists or exploration of morality in Fallout like there is in the 2K game. But that doesn’t mean Fallout 4 isn’t worth picking up if you haven’t already. There’s plenty out there to explore.
Both will be available come September 26, 2017 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
