THQ Nordic’s new gameplay trailer for Darksiders 3 shows us what we can only assume hell looks like. The setting is a cave deep underground with large auditoriums and plenty of pathways – though most of them are filled with bright orange and almost white lava.
The main character of this game, Fury, traverses the area with ease. She has no need for a red tunic here. The first enemies to appear are undead skeletons wielding swords as tall as they are. Though it is important to dodge and be careful about Fury’s health meter, the skeletons pose no problem. Most take only one hit from Fury’s whip.
On the next ledge over we encounter the lava boss. Though he probably more like a mini-boss, it is admittedly difficult to tell when there is no fanfare at all for the creature. The boss seems to have thick stone armor and swings a very heavy looking hammer. Its head is set aflame and most of the armor is covered in bright glowing runes.
More From Nerd Much?:
Its hits feel very heavy, but Fury knows when to roll to avoid the debilitating blow. She gets about two or three hits in, the creature decides that’s a good time to super charge. Fury again avoids the attack and goes in for another few hits. A few more combos later and it seems like Fury has one, but the trailer ends before we can be absolutely sure.
Needless to say, the game still looks awesome. The graphics and backgrounds are well done and look almost as good as the concept art on the game’s website. Despite Fury’s unconventional weapon in the form of a whip, her hits still feel powerful and it looks easy to handle. However one should keep in mind that trailers are supposed to make everything look easy.
