World War 3: New Multiplayer First-Person Shooter Coming 2018
Lookout EA and Activision, there’s a new studio looking to disrupt the modern military first-person shooter market. The Farm 51 has just announced World War 3.
The Farm 51 is both developing, and publishing their upcoming war shooter. Here is how they break it down:
“World War 3 is a multiplayer military FPS set in a modern, global conflict. Strong teamplay, national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armors and life-like weapons. Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map.”
The title will come with Warzone and Recon game modes. Warzone focuses on the large-scale spectacle. In this mode you’ll face off against infantry, armored vehicles and drones. The Farm 51 says the mode “offers opportunities for dynamic, intense firefights in teamwork-focused battles of infantry and armored units over fortified points.” Warzone sounds like your typical team based shooter type of mode.
Recon mode is striving to be “a fresh approach to the battle royale genre.” Here you’ll work with a smaller, more intimate group. You’ll play cooperatively to survive while attempting to control high-valued targets within hostile territory.
One of the features The Farm 51 is touting is the “true combat experience” of World War 3. The developers state that their game offers “the most authentic bullet vs. armor system in the FPS genre to date, achieved through years of research and development with military professionals.”
The Farm 51 says that they are encouraging team-based gameplay. You’ll choose whether you want to act as an Attacker or a Defender in World War 3. Both of which will get applicable gear to help them succeed in their respective roles.
World War 3 will also see extensive “national pride” in the game. Weapons, uniforms and equipment will be accurate representations to the factions in which they belong. There won’t be any loot boxes or pay-to-win mechanics either. But the team is promising hundreds of combinations of weapon parts, skins, camos and paint.
The game is planned to launch later this year via Steam Early Access. And following its debut, The Farm 51 wants fans to remain vocal as to how they can continually improve their product. They consider community feedback crucial and invite them “to take part in the common effort of making World War 3 the game they always wanted to play.”
