Hitman 2 World of Assassination Details, Trailer
IO Interactive is really banking on Hitman 2 to be a success. And with today’s unveiling of their Hitman 2 World of Assassination mode, it looks like they’ll be banking on the sequel for quite some time.
Today’s trailer for IO’s Hitman 2 World of Assassination mode showcases what the developers tout as an “ever-expanding game world”. The plan, somewhat similar to how they rolled out Hitman episodically, is to “offer a continuous experience that will never stop growing and never stop challenging players.” They state that Hitman 2 World of Assassination will be the feature that ends up “defining the past, present and future of Hitman.”
IO is bringing back a ton of content from 2016’s Hitman for those just jumping into the experience. The content will come to us in the form of the Hitman Legacy Pack. The DLC will include all 6 locales from the first game, which consisted of Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado and Hokkaido.
More From Nerd Much?:
The maps aren’t mere ports though. IO is adding all the bells and whistles that have been implemented in this year’s sequel to the first game’s maps. Specifically mentioned are “a new progression system, addition of hiding in foliage and crowds displayed at improved fidelity, picture-in-picture mode, strategic use of mirrors, improved combat A.I., new gameplay items like the briefcase, dart gun, flash grenades, etc., new difficulty levels and much more.”
The content will be premium for those jumping into the rebooted series with Hitman 2. But if you own 2016’s Hitman, you’ll be able to download and incorporate the upgraded maps into the sequel free of charge. IO Interactive’s CEO, Hakan Abrak, states it’s his studio’s way of saying “thank you”:
“We have been through an amazing journey with our fans and community and are extremely proud of the continued love and support. This is our way to say a big thank you and give something back. We have finally revealed our long-term vision to deliver the World of Assassination, an ever-expanding continuous universe starting from Paris in Season 1, going all the way through to the end of Hitman 2and beyond with our future endeavors. To create a universe like this is not only an ambitious task creatively, but also technically. I am in awe and admiration with our incredibly talented team and what they have achieved.”
Hitman 2 is releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 13th. For those looking to get into the game early, IO is offering a preview of the game’s Sniper Assassin mode for those that preorder.
