It’s undeniable that Marvel’s Spider-Man was a massive success for Sony as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Now that we’re about a month and a half from the game’s launch, Insomniac is ready to drop their Spider-Man: The Heist DLC. And for those that are on the fence about purchasing the content, the studio has released new details and a J. Jonah Jameson narrated trailer to sway you.
A lot of details about the Spider-Man: The Heist DLC were kept under wraps until today. Much of them are touched upon in Jameson’s rants within today’s new trailer. But it’s clear that there’s some real substance to this first batch of post-release content.
We knew that Peter Parker would be getting three new suits within the first DLC drop. These include the all-new Resilient Suit, the Scarlet Spider II suit, and the Spider-UK suit. But there is a bunch more that we’re just finding out.
More From Nerd Much?:
In today’s new trailer, we see Spider-Man ripping exhaust pipes off of various rooftops. I imagine this has something to do with Black Cat side missions that will be added within the new content. There looks to be additional Screwball side missions too.
Your trusty Spider-Bots are looking to get added use in the Spider-Man: The Heist DLC. It looks like there are new crime missions in which bombs are planted under cars that will require the gadgets use.
Insomniac has said there will be new enemy types in the DLC. The trailer shows off some of these, with perhaps the most formidable being a hulking mobster with a Gatling gun. There looks to be a new gang war brewing in the city now. Which makes sense as the next DLC is entitled Spider-Man: Turf Wars.
The developers originally said that Turf Wars would release in November and the 3rd DLC pack, Silver Lining, would release in December. However, at the bottom of today’s PlayStation Blog post, Insomniac’s Ryan Smith notes that “Users will receive all three Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps chapters by March 2019.” So these second two DLC packs may be coming later than we originally were told.
