Alien: Blackout Mobile Game Releases Later This Month
After being rumored for a while now, a new Alien game is finally confirmed. But it’s likely not what you expected. Alien: Blackout is official, but instead of something akin to Alien: Isolation for consoles and PC, we’re getting a mobile game.
Alien: Blackout comes to us from the development team at D3 Go!. The team is notable for other titles in the mobile genre, including Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest and Marvel Puzzle Quest. Based upon the limited information published and the trailer above, it looks like Blackout might be a title similar to the horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s.
In Alien: Blackout, you once again play as Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda Ripley. You’ll attempt to survive through seven levels within the game as you cautiously guide the crew of the crippled Weyland-Yutani space station.
A Xenomorph stalks the corridors, and as Ripley, you’ll work remotely from the ship’s damaged control center as you steer your horrified crew toward safety. In the brief glimpses we’ve seen of the game’s mechanics, you’ll notice that as you stare at the ship’s map, you’ll have control of the vessel’s cameras and security doors. However, the Weyland-Yutani space station only has a limited supply of power at its disposal. So you must strategize effectively to manage both resources and survival. A game mechanic that Five Nights at Freddy’s fans will certainly be familiar with.
The sci-fi game itself takes place in the time period between Alien and Aliens. But it’s unclear if there will be any substantial lore incorporated to further flesh out the overall Alien universe. We won’t have long until we find out though. D3 Go! confirmed that Alien: Blackout will be coming to the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Amazon Appstore on January 24th. Make sure you have some clean undies ready.
