During an interview with The Financial Times, Andrew House, president and global chief executive of Sony, confirmed that the new console will cost more than the current $350 PS4. It is aiming to exist in the market alongside the current model rather than replace it. “It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” says House. “We will be selling both through the life cycle.”
Even with the PS4 Neo confirmed, House remained tight-lipped in regards to possible release dates and pricing, but he did point out that the new console will be skipping this year’s E3. As a reason, House explained, “We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety.”
House continues by confirming some of the existing rumors. All games will have to support both the standard PS4 and the PS4 Neo. They will also both be capable of supporting Playstation VR. The new console will also be profitable at launch, unlike the current model PS4.
With the PS4 Neo confirmed, that is yet another recent rumor that has proved truthful. Since Nintendo is coming out with their Nintendo NX, is there any truth to the recent Xbox One Scorpio rumors? The wait is almost too much to bear!
