According to Game Informer, The publisher, Deep Silver, has notified GameStop of a new placeholder release date for Mighty No. 9 as 2016. The publisher nor the developers, Comcept, have commented on the game’s delay.
This marks the second major delay for Mighty No. 9, which according to its Kickstarter campaign was originally promised for a delivery of April 2015. Then, the title was delayed to September 2015. Now, it looks like the title won’t see 2015 at all. The game is slated for just about every platform under the sun, including Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, Vita, 3DS, PC, Mac and Linux. Now, the Wii U’s fall line-up is looking even more rough.
It’s probable that Comcept isn’t confirming the Mighty No. 9 delay because of the negative impact that it could likely have on the Red Ash Kickstarter that is currently running. Yesterday’s news regarding the fact that Fuze will be funding the game’s development resulted in a slew of backers cancelling their pledges for Red Ash, and it’s likely Comcept wants to avoid any more unwanted attention with a delay for their last successful Kickstarter.
We were really looking forward to getting our hands on Mighthy No. 9 in a couple of months, so it’s extremely disappointing that we won’t get to do that this year. Now, I’m wondering if we still want to even support Comcept at this point if the game eventually does release. I guess for now, we’ll just have to add it to our list of the most anticipated games of 2016.
