Earlier in the week, some pages leaked from Japanese magazine CoroCoro (translated by Serebii), which appeared to show several new Pokémon, more Alolan regional variants, and our first look at the villains in Pokémon Sun and Moon: Team Skull.
This morning, The Official Pokémon Channel posted the above video, which not only confirms all the information contained in the CoroCoro issue but further acquaints us with Team Skull. We meet the Boss, Guzma, and the Admin, Plumeria, as well as getting a look at the lowly Grunts. You can find more information about Team Skull on the official Pokémon site.
All the new Pokémon revealed so far feature never-before-seen abilities, and the first monster shown in the trailer, Wishiwashi, is no exception. Wishiwashi has what’s known as the schooling ability, which means that (upon reaching a certain level) it can transform during a battle from its Single form to the more formidable School form without actually evolving.
More From Nerd Much?:
Pyukumuku, also shown in the video, has an ability known as Innards Out; this enables it, upon fainting, to deal one final blow by hurling its internal organs at its opponent. If that’s not the most metal thing I’ve ever heard, then I don’t know what is. According to its description, it likes to hang out in a particular spot on the beach for weeks on end, and it will always put this ability to use if stepped on by unwitting tourists.
Also shown are the Alolan forms of Meowth, Marowak, and Raichu. Alolan Meowth is a Dark-type that results from being raised (and spoiled) by the royal family; Marowak is a Fire/Ghost type that evolved to “live in close union” with its partner and defend itself from natural enemies; Raichu is Electric/Psychic for reasons unknown and appears to be a surfer of sorts, in keeping with the Hawaiian theme of the game.
