The Fractured But Whole delayed out of its December 6, 2016 release date. After the incredible success of The Stick of Truth, this is some pretty sad news.
The announcement comes from Ubisoft’s official blog, explaining that “the development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal.”
What makes this truly sad is that the game has shown incredibly well since its initial reveal. We have two theories for what may have caused the delay. In The Stick of Truth, the one complaint across multiple reviews was that the game occasionally became choppy despite its simplistic visuals. Even with the added power of the newer generation of consoles, their still might be some frame-drop bugs left in the engine.
Additionally, they might be trying to work in some more relevant jokes and gags into The Fractured But Whole. When the first game released, it was difficult to include gags that were time sensitive. This is certainly something that could be introduced even this far into development.
For now, all we can do is speculate. We know this is going to be a great game, but we’ll have to wait until Ubisoft gives it the green light.
