Danganronpa reached cult status among Playstation Vita owners shortly after the series began. While the mascot appears cute and cuddly, this murder mystery series is anything but. Basically, the games center around a group of unwilling participants who must put their lives at risk if they have any hope of escaping. It’s a scenario that is reminiscent of the SAW franchise.
This announcement from NIS America makes a lot of sense if you think about it. It was announced previously that a third mainline entry was in development for both the Vita and PS4. Since many PS4 owners missed out on the series the first time around, this allows people to catch up.
Danganronpa Reloaded will release March 14, 2017. For $59.99, you can order a limited edition set that includes the two games, an art book, soundtrack, sticker, coin, and sunglasses inspired by the mascot. Alternatively, you can order the game itself for just $39.99.
We are sad to see that Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls won’t be included in the package. This acts as an in-between for the first and second games. Luckily, the store works well without it, so it won’t be missed unless you know it exists.
The announcement of Danganronpa Reloaded makes us excited to dive in before the third entry is released. With no release date tied to that title yet, we should have plenty of time to catch up.
