For the past six years, we we have received a brand new game from the Assassin’s Creed franchise. While some have reviewed better than others, it is hard to deny that people are beginning to feel the fatigue.
Thanks to a number of sources speaking with Kotaku, the next game in the series just may be skipping 2016. This decision was supposedly made after seeing the poor reaction to Assassin’s Creed: Unity back in 2014.
If the rumors turn out to be true, this could mean that the developers at Ubisoft will have more time to tweak the game into something that is highly polished and with much innovation. The gap year would also be great news to those who need a break from the series.
Rumors also signal that the next Assassin’s Creed game is code-named Empire and will be set in ancient Egypt.
Historically, rumors about Ubisoft’s games have turned out to be true more often than not. For now, we will just have to wait until an official announcement from Ubisoft.
For those who will be missing Assassin’s Creed this fall, don’t forget that the movie starring Michael Fassbender is scheduled to release on December 21, 2016.
If that isn’t enough from Ubisoft, Watch Dogs 2 is rumored to be coming later this year is set in San Francisco.
