If that brief glimpse of Fire Emblem Warriors at Nintendo’s presentation, you are in luck. The company is holding an entire Nintendo Direct dedicated to upcoming Fire Emblem titles. The event is tomorrow, January 18th at 2 pm PT or 5 pm ET.
This Nintendo Direct will likely be allude to another of Nintendo’s dip into the mobile market, as in April a Fire Emblem title was revealed to be in development for smartphones. It was originally planned for 2016, but was delayed for 2017. Hopefully we will see more of it at this event than mere rumor from Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima saying vaguely that “we expect that many consumers will experience Fire Emblem for the first time on their smart device, so this application will offer a more accessible style of gameplay compared to the titles for dedicated video game systems. At the same time, we still aim to provide a fully engaging experience as a role-playing simulation game.”
More likely, however, will be a focus on Fire Emblem Warriors. Most fans have been waiting for this one since Hyrule Warriors and are absolutely stoked to see their favorite strategy game turn Dynasty Warriors. Quick button-mashing combat that would suit the Switch well indeed.
In addition, there have been some rumors from NeoGAF that according to the source code on the Nintendo Direct website read “Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation for Nintendo Switch.” A brand new game we haven’t heard before yet, which is certainly intriguing. Though again, it’s from source code and should be taken with not just a grain of salt, but a healthy lump.
