Just three months before its release, the official trailer for Disney’s The BFG has finally released. One of the most classic childhood tales will finally make its big-screen debut.
Directed by Stephen Spielberg, this movie brings Roald Dahl’s classic book of the same name to life. This story centers around a young girl named Sophie and a giant who brings her to Giant Country. The giant, played by Mark Rylance, is big and friendly, making him different than the other inhabitants of Giant Country. He stands 24-feet tall and has great, big ears. Just like Sophie, he mainly keeps to himself.
The other giants have menacing names like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement). They are twice as large as our friendly giant and are known to eat humans.
While Sophie is initially frightened of the giant who brings her, she soon realizes that he is both gentle and charming. The giant takes her to Dream Country, where he collects dreams for children, and teaches her about magic and mystery.
There is much more to the movie, but we don’t want to spoil too much if you missed out on the classic children’s tale. We are excited to see what Disney can do with it when it comes to theaters July 1. If you are a mother or a father with a young child, we highly suggest you get a copy of The BFG here — it makes for a great bedtime story. It’s just one of the many upcoming family movies of 2016 we are looking forward to.
