Disney has unveiled the very first Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, which made its debut this morning during ABC’s Good Morning America.
The upcoming Star Wars spin-off film will be set before the original trilogy, and it follows a group of mercenaries who are hired to capture the plans to the Death Star. The cast includes Felicity Jones, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, and Mads Mikkelsen. Gareth Edwards is directing.
The Rogue One release date is set for December 16, 2016, and if this first trailer is any indication, Star Wars fans are in for a real treat. It’s definitely good to see that film appears to have come together nicely, given the fact that it felt like a filler cash grab movie to hold us over until Episode VIII. It still might be filler, but at least it looks like formidable filler. This trailer definitely has us excited, especially after seeing Forest Whitaker and Donnie Yen’s characters and what they actually look like in the movie.
Of course, we’re going to continue following all things Star Wars here at NM, so you might want to follow us on Twitter or Facebook for daily updates.
