You may be thinking, “I loved the old cartoon!” or, “My kids love the new Sonic Boom show.” Re-imaginings of either of those would probably actually get us a little excited, but instead, President and CEO of Sega Sammy Holdings Hajime Satomi has revealed that the movie will combine live-action footage with animation.
That’s right, it is most likely Sonic and his friends will be adventuring in the real world. Is anybody else getting a flashback to 2006’s Sonic the Hedgehog?
In all seriousness, we have no idea what to expect from a full-length movie. According to an interview with The World Folio, Satomi adds that the movie will be produced by Sony Pictures. We are crossing our fingers in hopes that Sonic will receive the same love that Ratchet and Clank seems to be getting.
More From Nerd Much?:
To ease your mind even more, look no further than at Sony’s other work with Hotel Transylvania or Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. We should be rest assured that Sonic is in good hands. At its very worst, we are pretty sure it will fair better than Alvin and the Chipmunks or The Smurfs.
No matter what you think of the Sonic franchise, it is way to early to cast any real judgement on this movie. If we find out more, you can be sure we’ll be the first to let you know.
