Originally, the film was scheduled to release November 13 of last year. In some sort of sad April Fools joke, Rings is being pushed back from it’s April 1 release, all the way to October 28.
While this may seem disappointing to some, the new release date makes much more sense for a horror title. With Halloween being such a draw for genuine scares, it only makes sense to want to have the movie premiere just in time for it.
The movie is set to take place 13 years after what happened in The Ring. Directing the sequel is F. Javier Gutierrez who last worked on Before the Fall back in 2008.
The script is being written by David Loucka and Jacob Aaron Estes. Joining them is Akiva Goldsman, the same writer behind A Beautiful Mind and I am Legend.
