The news for Captain America: Civil War keeps on rolling out today! This time, we get our first official look at the HYDRA villain, Crossbones.
In yet another reveal from Empire, Crossbones is sporting a traditional, yet realistic adaptation of the costumed villain. Back in The Winter Soldier, we got our first look at the character as non-costumed Brock Rumlow (Frank Grillo). We have to admit that his new look is so much more menacing.
For those who don’t keep up with the comics, Crossbones first appeared in issue #359 of Captain America back in 1989. More famously, he is known for his assassination of our hero in The Death of Captain America in 2007.
Now technically Crossbones’ new look was revealed nine months ago when Grillo posted a set photo on his Instagram account. This official image gives us a much clearer idea of what we can expect to see on the big screen.
We were really happy with how well Marvel handled Bucky in The Winter Soldier. Hopefully, the trend will continue on into Civil War. What we are really excited for is what Crossbones’ inclusion might mean for Steve Rogers. Will be see some sort of homage, at least visually, to The Death of Captain America?
Only time will tell, and luckily we don’t have much longer to wait. Captain America: Civil War releases May 6.
