Justice League Casts J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon

justice league castMaking his way back to comic book movies, J.K. Simmons has been cast as Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming two-part Justice League film.

The Hollywood Reporter reported today that the actor will be joining Ben Affleck’s Batman, Henry Cavill’s Superman, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman in the upcoming Zack Snyder films.

Simmons is no stranger superheroes. His role as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Rami’s Spider-Man movies remains one of the best casting choices in any of the Marvel or DC films. More recently, he won an Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in 2015’s Whiplash.

Justice League:Part One is slated for a November 12, 2017 release. Part Two won’t release until June 14, 2019. Filming for the first movie begins next month.

Additional heroes in the cast are Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Ezra Miller’s The Flash, and Ray Risher’s Cyborg. While Green Lantern is an important part of the team in the comics, it has been confirmed that he will not be making an appearance in Part One. It is still up in the air if he will appear in Part Two or not.

We’ve been dying to see all these heroes in action, but luckily we don’t have much longer to wait. Be sure to catch Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25 and watch out for those cameos of the other team members.
