According to THR, Beall will work off of a treatment from director James Wan and comics author Geoff Johns (who also serves as the co-head of DC Films).
Beall is previously known for his work on Gangster Squad as the film’s writer, as well as the upcoming Training Day TV series adaptation. He’s also writing The Legend of Conan alongside Andrea Berloff.
Of course, we already know that Jason Mamoa is set to star as the Atlantean King of the Seven Seas, as we got our first glimpse as the aquatic superhero in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Amber Heard is also aboard the project as Mera, and Willem Dafoe as his advisor, Vulko.
The Aquaman movie release date is currently set for a summer 2018 release, with its premiere date set for July 27, 2018.
