PUBG eSports Competition Hosted By PGL

PGL Studios has announced the PUBG Spring Invitational, an eSports event that will be held in Bucharest, Romania between March 22-25, 2018. During this event, 16 PUBG teams will be competing for a $100,000 prize pool. Eleven of these teams will be personally invited by PGL. The remaining five spaces will be filled by qualified online teams in North and South America, China, and Europe.

PGL states that more information, like what those qualifications are, format, and schedule, will be releasing in the next few days and weeks.

PUBG has only been in full release on PC since December 20, 2017, and it has already entered the eSports arena. This certainly goes to show how popular the game has become in the past year. Over 24 million copies were sold on PC and over 4 million on the Xbox One by the time the game fully released. According to the developers, PUBG peaked at over 3 million concurrent players on the PC alone, making it the most played game on Steam.

That said, PUBG has met with mixed reviews. Even after the full release, critics are still citing the game’s technical flaws and the unfinished nature of the gameplay. PUBG is working very hard to fix the latter, coming out with bug fixes and content updates often. However, some focus has shifted to anti-cheat software.

Apparently, the problem has grown since the game’s initial launch in Early Access and the developers have come to the point where they are sending out bans – 10,000 of them to be exact. Cheating will not end with a permanent ban anymore either, as PUBG developers are working to bring their cases to court and accuse the cheaters in a legal forum.

If you would like to get training for PGL’s Spring Invitational, PUBG is available now on Steam for $29.99 USD. A reasonable price for any Steam game, especially one so popular.
