AMC announced the two main components of their NOS4A2 cast this morning. Zachary Quinto of the recent Star Trek films and Ashleigh Cummings of The Goldfinch have been announced as the series’ leads.
We first heard that AMC would be developing a NOS4A2 series back in April. The supernatural horror show is based upon the 2013 award winning novel written by Joe Hill.
If you’re unfamiliar with the property, here is the series’ plot synopsis:
“NOS4A2 introduces Vic McQueen, a young, working class artist who discovers she has a supernatural ability to track the seemingly immortal Charlie Manx. Manx feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas Village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic must strive to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.”
Leading the NOS4A2 cast is Quinto in the creepy role of Charlie Manx. Cummings will play opposite Quinto as Manx’s foil, Vic McQueen. Other supporting members of the NOS4A2 cast have been previously announced. They include Olafur Darri Olafsson as Bing Partridge, Virginia Kull as Linda McQueen, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Chris McQueen and Jahkara Smith as Maggie Leigh.
The show will premiere in 2019 with Season 1 producing 10 episodes running an hour each. AMC has hired Kari Skogland (The Handmaid’s Tale, Sons of Liberty) to direct the first two episodes of the show. Production is scheduled to begin on the series next week in Rhode Island.
The series’ showrunner and executive producer, Jami O’Brien, touting the cast she and her team were able to assemble earlier today:
“As a huge fan of Joe Hill’s rich, imaginative, and exciting book, I am over the moon to be working with such a phenomenal cast and creative team on this special project.”
We’ll see how Hill’s adaptation comes together in television form when it premieres on AMC next year.
