Disney must be pretty confident in what they have in their DuckTales property. Season 2 won’t release on Disney Channel until late October. But that didn’t stop the network from officially greenlighting DuckTales Season 3 today.
To announced the DuckTales Season 3 renewal, Disney Channel released a video in which they state the voices of Huey, Dewey, Louie are together for the first time to record vocals in the same room. In the hit series, Huey is voiced by Danny Pudi, Dewey by Ben Schwartz, and Louie by Bobby Moynihan.
Saying the trio have never recorded together is likely part of the gag, as the next minute of the clip is just a litany of idiocy and nonsense by the trio of voice actors. They’re nothing but a distraction to one other, making each other look hilariously unprofessional.
The gag is highlighted by the reveal that David Tennant, the voice of Scrooge McDuck on the show, is losing his patience waiting for the McDuck triplet actors to get their shit together from the other side of the glass.
The clip rounds out at the end when a fed up Tennant misses a line read. Schwartz then says that he thought Tennant “would be more professional than this”, and demands that the actor “hit [his] cue.” Moynihan then gets the last great line saying, “More like Dr. When…” Tennant, of course, played the iconic Dr. Who across 3 seasons and 5 specials.
Season 2 of the show will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Now on October 20th. Disney didn’t announced a specific date for their DuckTales Season 3 debut, likely because Season 2 hasn’t aired. They did confirm Season 3 would land in 2019 though, but we won’t hear about specifics on that for quite a while.
