ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey has been chatting about the possibilities of a new Star Wars TV series at ABC.
We already have some brilliant TV iterations of other Disney properties, including shows from Marvel and Muppets (although the new series failed) that have aired on ABC, and, according to Dungey, ABC and Lucasfilm are in talks for a brand new Star Wars TV series.
“As a fan, I would absolutely love to say yes,” Dungey replied when asked about a Star Wars series during her executive panel today at TCA. “We have had conversations, and we will continue to have conversations with Lucasfilm. It would be wonderful to extend the franchise.”
Of course, discussions are just preliminary for now, but if Dungey stays persistent, it’s quite possible we’ll see a new TV series of the live-action nature come to ABC. While we have a seemingly endless wave of Star Wars movies on deck, the prospect of having a weekly TV series to look forward to every week is all too exciting. In fact, we’ve already come up with a few show names: Star Wars: The Kylo Ren Chronicles, The Skywalkers, and The X Wing Files (that last one was dumb, sorry about that).
There hasn’t been a solid live-action Star Wars television series just yet, but the animated Star Wars series have been quite popular, with Rebels Season 3 coming this fall.
