HBO has announced a new addition to the upcoming Game of Thrones Season 6 cast, as Harry Potter actor Freddie Stroma has been cast for the role of Dickon Tarly.
Stroma appeared in Harry Potter as Cormac McLaggen, and also appeared in Pitch Perfect as Luke. Most recently, he appeared in Lifetime’s dramedy UnREAL.
EW posted the exclusive yesterday, although we don’t know much about Stroma’s role in Game of Thrones. All that we know about Dickon Tarly is that he’s Samwell’s younger brother and that he’s more physically capable. In the George R.R. Martin novels, Samwell was forced to choose between joining the Night’s Watch or death so that Dickon would be Randyll Tarly’s heir.
Stroma is only the latest cast addition to be announced, as we’ve already received a number of Game of Thrones Season 6 cast additions during the off season, including Deadwood’s Ian McShane and Max von Sydow. Just this week, we learned that actor Pilou Asbæk will join the cast as Euron Grayjoy.
