The company’s community director, Sanya Weathers, noted in a blog post that the upcoming zombie game will launch with three maps, each of which will be the same size as the original game. For those math deficient game enthusiasts out there, that means the game is going to be 3X bigger than the well-loved original.
Weathers goes on to note that each of the maps will provide slightly different environments with “definitely different landmarks and locations”, as well as unique community sites and available mission types.

Undead Labs also went on to say that the goal is to allow players to also take all of your built community, including people, supply lockers and rucks, to each new map with you. What’s more, any vehicles parked in our home base’s parking spaces (and the items stored in the trunks of those cars) will also transfer to any new map along with it.
For those who missed out on the first State of Decay, I highly suggest going back into it and delving into the unique zombie apocalypse-set game, as we believe it’s one of the best zombie games of the past 10 years (especially since the framerate issues have been ironed out).
Meanwhile, we don’t have an official release date for State of Decay 2 just yet, as we only know that it’s currently slated to release at some point in 2017 for Xbox One and PC.
