I have no idea what I just watched, but I was absolutely fascinated by it. This is THQ Nordic’s unveiling of This is the Police II. And I feel like I just experienced an intense scene from any number of Quentin Tarantino movies – it was awesome.
This is the Police II is the sequel to 2016’s This is the Police (obviously). The game is a mixture of adventure and management genres in which you’re tasked with overseeing the city’s police department.
This time around you’re thrown into the role of the new sheriff Lilly Reed, played by Sarah Hamilton (The Longest Journey). Reed struggles to maintain order within her department which is riddled with “uncouth men who aren’t used to receiving commands from a young woman.” It looks as though this isn’t a continuation of the first game, but instead an entirely new story.
The story states that “everything changes when a mysterious stranger calling himself Warren Nash appears in Sharpwood. And no one knows what he’ll bring to the town: salvation or perdition.” It looks as though we’re seeing the beginnings of that narrative in today’s tense trailer. The old man being “interrogated” by a ruthless officer states that his name is indeed Warren Nash.
This is the Police earned itself middle of the pack reviews upon release on PC and consoles. The title sported a very unique art style which carries over to its sequel. No gameplay was shown, but THQ Nordic says it will contain “a mixture of adventure and management genres, and this time it enjoys further unexpected mechanics that will strengthen both the strategic and tactical parts of the game.”
I highly recommend giving the trailer a watch. THQ Nordic says that This is the Police II will be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year.
