Override: Mech City Brawl Release Date Set for December

Developed by The Balance Inc. and published by Modus, Override: Mech City Brawl puts big city environments as the backdrop for this 3D mech-based party brawler set to release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC December 4th, 2018.

In this game you’ll be piloting your mech against enemies within fully destructible arenas modeled after real-world locations such as San Francisco, Egypt, Mexico, and Japan. Override: Mech City Brawl features:

  • Duke it out in 1v1 or 2v2 brawls
  • Unleash total chaos in 4-person free-for-all
  • Team up in 2 to 4-player party co-op–where each player controls one part of a skyscraper-sized mech
  • Go it alone in the single-player campaign
  • 12 different mechs to pilot at launch, all with their own play style and each is customizable with a range of unlockable accessories and skins in The Garage

It seems like a lighthearted brawler with robots that doesn’t take itself too seriously (hence that moment in the trailer where one robot hits another with a steel folding chair). The destructible environments should also create some additional fun and chaos.

And the ability to control individual parts of the mech is the kind of goof teamwork fans may think of, but it’s not something you typically see integrated into the game. Making some of these features a refreshing change of pace to what we typically see in party brawlers.

If you’re eager to jump in and see if this is for you, there’s a closed beta taking place August 10th-12th which you can sign up for on their website.

If you’re already hooked in by what you’ve witnessed you can preorder the game today. The standard edition runs $29.99 and is digital only. The Super Charged Mega Edition is digital and physical for $39.99. Here are the extras it comes with: Season Pass (featuring 4 extra mechs, 16 new skins post-launch, and instant access to 12 legendary skins normally locked in the Standard Edition.
