Announced yesterday by Lucasfilm, comes the cast, theatre release date, and the start of filming for the as yet untitled Han Solo movie. If you haven’t guessed already, the date chosen is the classic May 25th 2018 the same as all other Star Wars movies, except for Clone Wars and The Force Awakens. The film will follow the adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca “before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.”
The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, a team that also directed The Lego Movie and the 21 Jump Street reboot. As seems to be usual, becoming a part of the Star Wars movie world invoked awe in the duo, “watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous. We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
More From Nerd Much?:
Furthermore, the cast has a lot of familiar faces including Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. As you might recall, Suotamo is as much a new addition to the Star Wars franchise as the other actors.
So Harrison Ford won’t be playing Han Solo and though I don’t blame him, do you think Alden Ehrenreich can fit into those famous shoes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
