Wonder Woman 2 Adds Expendables’ Dave Callaham as Writer
The Wonder Woman 2 Writing Team is Now a Trinity of its Own
Forget Batman and Superman. Wonder Woman now has a Trinity of her very own. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that a third scribe has been brought on board to help pen the script for Wonder Woman 2. And it’s a writer Patty Jenkins has previous experience working with.
It’s none other than Dave Callaham that is now the third writer on the project. Dave Callaham is perhaps best known for his writing credits on The Expendables and The Expendables 2. However, he also contributed to the story in 2014’s Godzilla reboot as well as some other previous lesser known projects. Callaham and Jenkins are said to have a strong working relationship already. The duo were working together to adapt a Jo Nesbo book into the upcoming film, Jackpot. That was until Warner Bros. and DC finally did what was necessary to get Jenkins back into the fold for Wonder Woman 2.
Patty Jenkins, Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham have a tall order ahead of them. Wonder Woman absolutely blew expectations out of the water when it released back in June. The film’s $149 million budget was extremely justified. It’s last reported earnings at the box office were around $817 million. And it was critical success as well with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 92% fresh.
It was Patty Jenkins who then recommended Callaham to join herself and DC head Geoff Johns on the sequel. To which Dave Callaham clearly obliged. The overall story of Wonder Woman 2 is still a secret at this point, and likely will be for quite a while. The project isn’t expected to hit the big screen until December 13, 2019. All we know for sure is Wonder Woman 2 will see Gal Gadot back for (at least) her fourth time as Diana Prince in the DCEU. It’s also been reported that Gena Davis spoke with Patty Jenkins about hopefully joining the project in an unidentified role.
