Avengers: Endgame Runtime Leaks

You have 32 days to train your bladders, folks. If a recent gaffe by AMC Theaters is to be believed, we finally have the official Avengers: Endgame runtime. And it’s a long one.

Earlier today, the AMC Theaters’ website updated their information, revealing an Avengers: Endgame runtime of 182 minutes. Confirming that the culmination of 22 MCU films will be the longest yet at three hours and two minutes.

The longest running MCU film up to this point was, fittingly, Avengers: Infinity War. That traumatic experience had movie goers sitting idle for 149 minutes.

The information is no longer there, but Fandango hopped aboard the Avengers: Endgame runtime train and promoted the three hour and two minute runtime as fact.

Rumors of a three hour plus runtime have been circulating for a while now. As the Russo Brothers were putting final touches on the project in February, they confirmed that a three hour runtime wouldn’t be something they were actively avoiding.

The duo stated that Disney was “down with what the best story is.” At the time, they confirmed a lengthy experience was an issue to them, saying “Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we’ve had great responses from our test audiences and we’re feeling very good about where it is.”

The Russo’s reasoning for such a long movie is an appropriate one. Joe explains that, “this is a culmination film of 22 movies, it’s a lot of storytelling to work into it. Emotion is an intrinsic part of that to us. When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate.”

With AMC leaking the Avengers: Endgame runtime, it’s possible that the presale tickets could be going live soon. Fans have been speculating wildly as to when they could begin reserving their seats for the culmination event, but neither Disney nor Marvel have given any indication as to when they’ll allow for theaters to begin doing so. To be safe, just have your credit card at the ready and continue to refresh.
