It appears as though Harrelson is circling the role of Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie. This news comes via Variety, whose sources say that Harrelson is in talks for the role and he’s the top choice.
Of course, we’re all familiar with Harrelson, whose top credits include Zombieland, The Hunger Games series, the upcoming War of the Planet of the Apes, and True Detective.
Harrelson would mentor the young Han Solo, which we now know is being played by Alden Ehrenreich. He’d be the seasoned veteran among a cast of young, rising stars, including Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. The film will be set before A New Hope.
The Han Solo spin-off will begin production this month, and its release date is currently set for May 25, 2018 — just five months after the December release of this year’s Episode 8. Those are just two of the upcoming Star Wars movies that are currently in the pipeline, and we’d be fools to believe that others aren’t already being discussed as well, especially given the popularity and positive response from Rogue One.
