Razer has announced a new addition to their keyboard line, the Blackwidow Ultimate. This is their first mechanical keyboard to be completely water and dust resistant, rated as IP54.Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Keyboard Available Now

Meaning you can feel free to spill your Mountain Dew, but some panic is still required for a quick and thorough clean-up. Though the product page shows Razer pouring water onto the keyboard and blasting sand onto it, such actions are likely not recommended. It’s resistant, not proof.

Despite this, Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan has stated that the company has “never stopped making improvements to our gaming keyboards.” Not only is the Blackwidow Ultimate the first water and dust resistant, it is “now more durable than ever.”

Other features of the keyboard include the individually backlit keys. This allows any gamer to customize the green LED lights through Razer’s Synapse software. You can change various effects, like Wave, Ripple, Reactive, and Starlight. There are of course plenty more features you can use to make the perfect lighting profile for you.

The Razer made mechanical switches are something to boast about too, with a 50g actuation force. Meaning Razer has struck middle-ground gold with just enough tactile feedback for a gamer and smooth enough to make double tapping and general use a breeze.

As the CEO mentioned, the durability of this keyboard to nothing to scoff at. You’ve got a rated lifespan of 80 million keystrokes. All in addition to the water and dust resistant feature.

Each key is entirely programmable to whatever you need it to be, specifically optimized for “tournament-grade precision.” If all this looks great to you, Razer is offering the Blackwidow Ultimate at $109.99 USD. Not a bad price for such a high-end keyboard, and all of the amazing features contribute to make this the ultimate choice for any PC gamer.
